There is no standard restoration. Every handbag has its own construction, materials, hardware, previous use and repair history. For this reason, every project is assessed individually before the work, cost and timeframe are confirmed.

The aim is to restore the piece as carefully as possible while respecting its original construction, materials and character.

Handbag Spa & Care

This service may include cleaning, surface care and finishing appropriate to the specific materials and construction of the handbag. There is no fixed 'standard spa' treatment: the work is determined by the condition and needs of each piece.

Price and lead time are therefore confirmed individually after assessment.

Hardware & Jewellery Polishing

Hardware and jewellery elements are assessed according to their material, construction, condition and finish. Where removal is necessary, the hardware is carefully removed, sent for professional polishing where required, and reinstalled after treatment.

Polishing normally requires approximately 2–3 weeks. This timeframe refers to the specialist polishing process and may vary depending on the work required.

Hardware Restoration

Hardware restoration may involve cleaning, polishing, repair, reconstruction, replacement or reinstallation. The appropriate intervention depends on whether the original component can safely and successfully be restored or whether replacement is necessary.

Hardware restoration is quoted individually and has a minimum estimated lead time of approximately 4 weeks.

Lining & Structural Work

Some restoration work requires access to the internal construction of the bag. This may involve removing and replacing sections of lining, working with adhesives, reinforcing internal elements or rebuilding parts of the original construction.

Where the existing lining or component can no longer be safely reused, replacement will be assessed and quoted separately.

How the Process Works

1. Initial enquiry — photographs and information about the handbag are reviewed.

2. Assessment — the condition, construction, materials and requested work are evaluated.

3. Restoration proposal — the client receives the proposed scope, price and estimated timeframe.

4. Approval — work begins once the proposed restoration has been approved.

5. Restoration — the agreed work is carried out, including specialist external processes where required.

6. Final inspection — the completed piece is checked before completion and return.

Additional Work

Some conditions cannot be identified until the handbag is opened. Previous repairs, concealed damage, weakened fixings, deteriorated adhesives, damaged lining or broken components may only become apparent during restoration.

If additional work is required, the client will receive a separate quotation and estimated additional timeframe before that work is undertaken.

Polishing, Coating & Other Surface Treatments

Polishing, coating, plating and other surface treatments are separate processes. A polishing quotation does not include coating or plating unless specifically stated.

Where appropriate, the hardware will be assessed after polishing. If an additional surface treatment is required to achieve the desired result, this will be quoted separately before proceeding.

Restoration Results

The objective is to restore the appearance, function and condition of the piece while preserving its original construction and character wherever possible.

Because restoration works with existing materials and construction, the result cannot always be identical to a factory-new item. Previous repairs, ageing, wear, oxidation, material deterioration and other factors may influence the final result.

Pricing & VAT

Prices shown as 'from' are starting prices, not fixed prices. Final pricing is determined after assessment. VAT is not included unless expressly stated.

Lead Times

Lead times are estimates and are confirmed according to the individual restoration project. The complexity of the work, specialist processes, material behaviour and curing or airing periods may affect the completion date.

Quoted lead times do not include holiday periods or closures.

Following restoration, appropriate care and handling recommendations may be provided according to the materials, finishes and construction of the piece.
